Perform Rescue from a Live LV Panel

The aim of this course is to provide students with the skills to perform a rescue from a live low voltage (LV) apparatus, not including overhead lines and underground cables, in the workplace. It specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from a live LV panel and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution or rail work functions.

Duration: 4 Hours

Student/Trainer ratio: 8:1

Prerequisites

Students must hold and show evidence the unit of competency of HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Who should attend?

This course is designed for all persons who are required to perform any work or tasks around live Low Voltage (LV) apparatus where if upon an emergency may be required respond to remove a person from a LV panel in an emergency.

Course Objectives and Content

  • Inspection of rescue equipment Identify work health and safety (WHS) manual handling hazards
  • Assessing hazards to rescuer, victim and others
  • Isolation procedures where appropriate
  • Knowledge of Safe Approach Distances (SAD’s) appropriate to rescue from a live LV panel
  • Practical demonstration of rescuing a person
  • Maintaining Safe Approach Distances (SAD’s) appropriate to rescue from a live LV panel
  • Practical demonstration of rescuing a person

Qualifications for successful students

Statement of Attainment in:
UETTDRRF06B – Perform rescue from a live LV panel

H2. What do I bring?

All necessary equipment and learning materials will be provided. Remember to wear protective foot wear and bring 100 points of ID. Morning tea and lunch will also be provided.
