First Aid

The aim of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of how to apply first aid in a range of circumstances. Following training; students will be able to assess patients, provide basic first aid treatment, identify hazards associated with applying first aid, provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR), understand hygiene in first aid and understand how to use an Automatic External Defibrillator(AED) in emergency situations. Students will also be required to carry out practical application of first aid methods during this course. This course includes training for applying CPR to both children and adults.

Students will be required to complete some pre-course study. This must be completed prior to the course commencement. Once enrolled the student will receive the pre-course workbook, login and web link via email for the online component to be completed.

Duration: 8 Hours (face to face)

Student/Trainer ratio: 10:1

Who should attend?

This course is designed for any persons who are working in a first aid capacity; school teachers, child care teachers, construction workers, personal trainers, sporting coaches, parents, the list goes on. If you would like to be able to act in the event of an emergency, this course is for you.

Qualifications for successful students

Statement of Attainment in:
HLTAID001 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
HLTAID003 – Provide first aid

What do I bring?

All necessary equipment and learning materials will be provided. Morning tea and lunch will also be provided on the day of training. Students are reminded to bring their completed pre-course workbook and to wear appropriate clothing for bending and kneeling during practical application.
